  41. Installing MUM:
  42. ---------------
  43. To install Mass User Management v1.3 (MUM) on your machine, put the Mass User 
  44. Management disk into drive A:.  Run windows and select "Run" from the
  45. "File" menu.  Type "A:install.exe" and follow the prompts.
  46.  
  47. After you have installed Mass User Management onto your machine, add an
  48. icon for MUM in the Program Manager group of your choice.
  49.  
  50. Install Notes:
  51. 1.  The NetWare drivers that are being shipped with this version are the
  52. same drivers from WINUP8.ZIP on CompuServe and ftp.novell.com.  These
  53. drivers are for use with NETX.EXE.  If you are using the VLMs, do not
  54. overwrite your NetWare drivers during installation of MUM.
  55. 2.  If you try to run MUM and get the message "Cannot find file NETWARE.DLL",
  56. there is something wrong with your Windows Network configuration.  Run
  57. "Windows Setup" from the "Main" program group.  Select "Change System Settings"
  58. under the "Options" menu.  Change the "Network" item to read "Novell NetWare
  59. (shell versions 3.26 and above)" and press "OK".  Install new drivers from
  60. your original Windows disks.  Restart Windows and run MUM again.  If you
  61. still have the same problem, please contact us for help.

  64. Template files and Templates:

  67. Don't confuse the two.  The template FILE contains multiple (up to 100)
  68. templates.  MUM matches your department identifier field in your adding text
  69. file with template names found in the currently loaded template FILE.

  73. File extensions used by Mass User Management (MUM).

  75. The file extensions used by MUM are arbitrary and you can use any file 
  76. extensions you wish at any time, but the following are used as defaults:

  78.     *.tmp   - Template files
  79.     *.rpt   - MUM report files
  80.     *.txt   - Text files

  87. 1) The ability to preform any task, add, delete, modify or list for an 
  88.    individual user.
  89. 2) Groups, servers available will be displayed instead of having to be
  90.    entered.

  94. 4) The types of restrictions that can be modified has been expanded and
  95.    is displayed in a concise manner.

  98. 5) Fields can be delimited by TABS, SPACES or COMMAS

  100. 7) While adding users, you have the option of users already on the server.

  108. 11) We have made it so the adding and modify options are very similar
  109. 12) You may select a template for the modify restrictions

  117. 16) The number of reports generated has been increased.  You may view
  118.     error logs and other useful report files

  121. Changes in Version 1.2:
  122. -----------------------
  123.  
  124. 1) The password options have been expanded to allow 
  125.    supervisors to provide their own passwords while adding 
  126.    users.  An additional password field can now be included 
  127.    in the text file used to add accounts.  Previously, 
  128.    supervisors could only provide a username.
  129. 2) Under the "Delete" menu, a menu item entitled "Delete 
  130.    Directories" was added to allow supervisors to delete ALL 
  131.    trustee directory assignments of users that were deleted 
  132.    using MUM.  This option will delete the trustee 
  133.    directories, their files, and subdirectories.  Note that 
  134.    this option will delete all files including hidden and 
  135.    read only files in the Trustee Directories given.  We 
  136.    recommend using caution when using this new option.
  137. 3) Under all deleting options, supervisors can now execute a 
  138.    mock deleting run.  This can be used to get a listing of 
  139.    trustee directory assignments (since the deleting options 
  140.    generate a list of trustee directory assignments of the 
  141.    deleted users).
  142. 4) Under all menu items on the "Modify" menu, supervisors can 
  143.    now modify user's account balance and low limit or add to 
  144.    the current account balance.
  145. 5) Also under all menu items on the "Modify" menu, 
  146.    supervisors can now modify user's volume restrictions for 
  147.    any or all volumes.
  148. 6) Under all menu items on the "Lists" menu, supervisors can 
  149.    now display user's current account balance and low limit.  
  150. 7) Also under all menu items on the "Lists" menu, supervisors 
  151.    can now display user's current volume restrictions and 
  152.    current disk space in use for all volumes on the server.  
  153. 8) MassMode (MassUser's child program) has a completely new 
  154.    user interface that facilitates error checking and keeps 
  155.    supervisor's completely informed of MUM's progress.
  156. 9) Some general bug fixes involving file sharing between 
  157.    MassUser and MassMode.
  158. 10) Some general bug fixes involving displaying windows 
  159.     on the "Modify" and "Lists" menus.
  160. 11) Help buttons have been added to all dialog boxes to 
  161.     allow easy access to on-line help.
